THE
WINE WORKSHOPS: Professional Series
We are very excited
about this new training system and believe it will greatly enhance
your tasting, knowledge, service and wine program management skills.
Philosophy
& Goals
In the past 10 years, we cannot count the number
of times we have been asked the question “Where else can I
go to study more about wine?” Unfortunately, we’ve never
had a great answer. We could not find other classes that taught
skills such as blind tasting, wine service and advanced wine program
management. This course is designed to answer that question.
We spent a huge amount of time
thinking about our course. How can we design a program that teaches
wine skills in a new, more interactive way? Each discussion brought
about the idea of a “workshop.” We decided a workshop
was exactly what we wanted to offer – a small, hands on, interactive
environment that gives students a chance to learn and practice with
experienced instructors, as well as their peers. Classes are kept
small, limited to a maximum of 30 students.
We also believe in the idea of
mentorship. Students will have ample opportunity, both in and out
of class, to ask questions about workshop materials or any other
aspects of wine theory, tasting and service. In some cases, personal
assessment will be available to give you the type of honest feedback
you need to improve.
The Wine Workshops are for all
levels of wine knowledge and experience. Students will be grouped
and assessed according to their abilities and comfort with the material.
And
What About Wine Theory?
We would be foolish to assume that we can teach
the intricacies and complexities of the world’s wine regions
in a two day class. What we feel we can do, however, is help you
to assess where you are in your level of knowledge and provide direction
to meet your goals. Students will be given the opportunity in each
class through both verbal and written quizzes to demonstrate and
evaluate their level of wine knowledge.
